Dong NaiAfter a day of intensive care and treatment, 5 patients injured in the boiler explosion at Binh Minh Wood Company were basically in stable health.

On the morning of May 2, Doctor Nguyen Thi Kim Loan, Deputy Director of Thong Nhat General Hospital, said the above, adding that “the health of all 5 patients is improving well”.

The most serious patient is Mr. Lieu Van Tan, 33 years old, from Bac Giang, injured in the right side, ruptured diaphragm, right pneumothorax, fractured left metacarpal, and wound in the liver. He underwent surgery to treat his injuries, and this morning the endotracheal tube was removed and he is awake.

Two other serious patients are Do Xuan Thanh, 34 years old, with multiple injuries to the chest, abdomen, and skin abrasions all over the body. Mr. Thanh was hospitalized with a right rib fracture, right pneumothorax, grade 4 liver injury, and kidney injury. The remaining person is Duong Van Tung, 41 years old, with complex head injuries and a closed abdominal injury.

The two cases with more minor injuries were Hoang Van Kinh, 46 years old, injured in the shoulder and head, paralyzed brachial plexus; and Mr. Le Van Beo, 27 years old, suffered an open fracture of the humerus, a head wound and a kidney injury.

Post-operative patients are being treated at the Intensive Care Department and related departments.

On the morning of May 1, the boiler at Binh Minh wood company suddenly exploded, 6 people died, including a Chinese national. Five workers working nearby were injured and were taken to Thong Nhat General Hospital – Dong Nai for emergency treatment.

The company has about 200 employees, and at the time of the explosion, 42 workers were working. The initial cause was determined to be a technical error. Previously, this boiler was damaged and was repaired by the maintenance unit on April 30.
