Including homemade pate (pork liver, fatty meat), homemade pickles (carrots, white radish), homemade sauce (including pork broth, seasoning powder, MSG, soy sauce). Other ingredients such as pork sausage, ham, pork… are purchased from elsewhere and are not processed again.

“Pate is processed and cooked right on the porch; sweet and sour foods are prepared at the faucet near the freezer in the house. The pots are cleaned, but we have not classified the pots for cooked and raw food separately. goodbye,” Ms. Bang’s husband said.

Due to the large number of customers, the establishment arranges two employees to cut cakes, reduce pate, meat, pork rolls or sweet and sour foods depending on request, while another person collects money. All sellers wear gloves. “The processing and sales process has been going on for the past 20 years. We have never suspected a similar poisoning case,” Ms. Bang said.

At the time of inspection on May 2, the authorities sealed the freezer at the facility, with about 15 kg of pickles, 1 kg of processed pork, 1 kg of pork sausage, 4 trays of pate weighing in. 10kg. The shop has been discontinued. Authorities are tracing the origin of the above ingredients and food, as well as testing samples to find the poisoning agent.

According to the victims, Banh Mi restaurant has delicious food and cheap prices, so it is popular with many people. Every day this bread cart sells more than 1,000 loaves, of which 500 are usually in the morning and 600 in the afternoon. Many people from Xuan Loc or Thong Nhat districts, even 20 km away, still come to buy. “Because there is a bread cart that many people buy, we often have to queue, sometimes the whole alley is jammed,” said Ms. Hien, the patient in the poisoning case.

Dong Nai Department of Health recorded that by noon on May 4, 529 people were poisoned and had to be hospitalized in the emergency room. They eat bread sold at Bang store on April 30 and May 1. The patient mainly had abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea and fever, and was diagnosed with an intestinal infection. Dong Nai Children’s Hospital is treating 8 cases of serious condition. Two children, 6 years old and 7 years old, are on ventilators and dialysis. The remainder were given intravenous fluids, antibiotics, oxygen, and correction of disorders. Ho Chi Minh City Children’s Hospital 1 sent experts to Dong Nai to support treatment.

A representative of Dong Nai Police said they are investigating, taking samples, and working with relevant people. If there are criminal signs or sufficient grounds for prosecution, investigation will be carried out according to the law.
