Ski jumping duo Paschke/Wellinger wins confidently in the Super Team

The German ski jumpers started the World Cup weekend in Titisee-Neustadt with a confident victory. Overall World Cup leader Pius Paschke and his teammate Andreas Wellinger won the super team format with a total of 873.3 points ahead of Austria (850.0) and Norway (829.2).

The 34-year-old Paschke also showed his current outstanding form on the Hochfirstschanze in the Black Forest. With jumps of 143.5, 140 and 142.5 meters, the police chief from Kiefersfelden, Bavaria, laid the foundation for the team success with Olympic champion Wellinger. Paschke had already celebrated three World Cup victories in the still young ski jumping season.

The Super Team is a relatively new format. Instead of a classic team competition with four jumpers per team, only two athletes compete together. Each athlete completes three jumps and not just two.

On Saturday (4 p.m.) the individual jumping on the large hill is on the program in Titisee-Neustadt.
