Clara Tauson picks up first win after long injury break

The Danish tennis player Clara Tauson has won over Katie Boulter in the Challenger tournament in Concord in the American state of Massachusetts on the night of Wednesday Danish time.

In just over an hour, the young Dane beat the 26-year-old Briton 6-2, 6-3 and is thus through to the quarter-finals.

19-year-old Tauson is number 49 in the WTA world rankings, while Boulter is number 127.

The victory is much needed for Clara Tauson, who recently returned from a long injury break.

On Tuesday of last week, she lost to the seasoned German Andrea Petkovic at the WTA tournament Citi Open in Washington DC. The day before, Tauson went out in the women’s doubles, where she played together with the Briton Emma Raducanu.

The match against Petkovic was Tauson’s first singles match in over a month.

Clara Tauson was last in action at the grand slam tournament Wimbledon in London at the end of June, but here she had to retire already in the first set of her first match in women’s singles due to an injury.
