Rodrygo Goes breaks the cruciate and meniscus in his right leg

Real Madrid’s Brazilian striker Rodrygo Goes will be out for several months and will miss the remainder of the season, including next summer’s World Cup, after suffering a tear to the anterior cruciate ligament and another to the external meniscus in his right leg.

“Following the tests carried out today on our player Rodrygo by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament and a torn external meniscus in his right leg,” the club reported in a statement.

The São Paulo attacker entered the field this Monday against Getafe CF at the Santiago Bernabéu, on matchday 26 of LaLiga EA Sports, in the 55th minute, reappearing after five games absent due to a muscle injury and an expulsion in the Champions League playoff against SL Benfica.

A few minutes after entering, Rodrygo fell after an action on the sideline against the ‘blue’ team, and it seems that his knee became hooked, which caused the Brazilian to express the first gestures of pain, although he continued on the field and finished the game.

Now, after the tests carried out this Monday, it was confirmed that the 25-year-old player has torn the anterior cruciate ligament and the external meniscus in his right leg. An injury that would keep him off the playing field for about 9-10 months, forcing him to say goodbye to the club season and the World Cup, from June 11 to July 19, with Brazil, the team with which he would have played his second World Cup.
