Austria secures the services of a key player

Austria Vienna has the contractually agreed option Abu Bakr Barry pulled and originally in the summer expiring contract of the midfielder early until Extended at the end of the 2026/27 season.

The 25 year olds moved to the Violets from the second Israeli league in 2024 and quickly developed into an absolute top performer in coach Stephan Helm’s team.

In the current Bundesliga season, Barry has made 22 appearances so far, in which he has scored four goals and three assists. He is currently traveling with the Gambian national team and will play an away game against Senegal on Tuesday.

There have been several interested parties for Barry in the recent past, and it is very likely that the midfielder will leave the distribution circle in the summer. Austria would then earn good money through the option, which it needs for finances anyway.
