Football: former OM coach Roberto De Zerbi in Tottenham’s sights to replace… former Marseillais Igor Tudor

Tottenham are just one point away from disaster and relegation to the Championship. In great difficulty in the Premier League, Spurs have set their sights on Roberto De Zerbi to succeed Igor Tudor, according to British media reports published this Monday. According to The Athletic and Talksport, negotiations between De Zerbi and Tottenham have progressed, with the club offering a lucrative long-term contract to convince the 46-year-old Italian coach to take the reins immediately.

According to these same media, Roberto De Zerbi, available since he left Marseille in February, was initially reluctant to accept the position without knowing in which division Tottenham, whose last season outside the elite dates back to 1977-1978, would play next season.

The north London club, which is only one point ahead of the relegation zone with seven games remaining and has not won a league match in 2026, parted ways on Sunday with Igor Tudor, who spent only seven matches and 44 days in charge of the team. The former Juventus and Marseille coach was himself appointed on February 13 to succeed Thomas Frank.

Roberto De Zerbi has built a solid reputation in England, thanks to his two-year stint at the helm of Brighton, between 2022 and 2024. Unhappy with recruitment, he however left the club at the end of the 2024 season before joining Olympique de Marseille, where he was dismissed in February following several poor results from the Marseille club.
