Guerreiro leaves FC Bayern – contract will not be extended

Raphaël Guerreiro has no future at FC Bayern Munich beyond the summer. As the German football record champions announced, both sides have agreed not to extend the contract, which expires after the season. The 32-year-old Portuguese international moved from Borussia Dortmund to Munich on a free transfer in the summer of 2023.

Eberl: “Rapha was always reliable on the pitch”

“Rapha was always reliable on the pitch, and characters like him enrich every dressing room,” said Bayern sports director Max Eberl, according to the statement. Under coach Vincent Kompany, Guerreiro was recently only second choice. The versatile all-rounder was used in 13 of 27 possible league games this season.

Guerreiro is currently playing a total of 89 competitive games for Munich, in which he contributed twelve goals and eight assists. Guerreiro won the championship with Bayern last season. He celebrated his biggest title in 2016 when he became European champion with Portugal.
