The first title of 2026 fades for Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini, defeats in the final of the “Miami Open”the fourth WTA 1000 of the season with a total prize money of 9,411,725 dollars which ended on the hard court of the Hard Rock Stadium in Florida.
In their first final of the season the two Italians (both at number 5 in the specialty ranking), the first seeding favorites, were beaten – as already happened in the Indian Wells semi-final – by the number two pair in the draw, the one formed by the Czech Katerina Siniakova and the American Taylor Townsend (no. 2 and no. 7 in doubles) by 7-6(0) 6-1.
Final strongly conditioned by rain
The organizers were forced to suspend the match at 6-5 with Siniakova/Townsend and Errani serving ahead 40-0, allowing it to resume after almost three hours. For Siniakowa and Townsend it is “Sunshine Double” having also won at Indian Wells.
