Aday Mara shines with Michigan and will play in the NCAA final

Spanish center Aday Mara had a sensational performance with 26 points to lead the Michigan Wolverines’ victory over the Arizona Wildcats (73-91) at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis (United States) and seal their place in the final for the NCAA title against the UConn Huskies.

The Zaragoza native, 20 years old and 2.21 meters tall, did not succumb to the pressure of being the first Spaniard to participate in the Final Four of ‘March Madness’ and completed a perfect game in which Arizona barely had a chance, trailing 16 points at halftime (32-48).

The former Casademont Zaragoza player, who stopped rivals like Koa Peat and Motiejus Krivas, almost achieved a ‘double-double’ in the 30 minutes he was on the court, in which he contributed 26 points – a personal record in the NCAA -, nine rebounds, three assists and two blocks, a performance that increases his chances of being crowned MVP of the Final Four.

Now, Michigan will seek the title against UConn, which will play its third final in the last four years after beating Illinois Fighting Illini in the other semifinal (62-71). The match will be played in the early hours of Monday to Tuesday (2:30 Spanish peninsular time).
