Sami Välimäki is the highest paid Finnish golfer

Sami Välimäki is now the Finnish golfer who earned the most prize money in the history of the sport.

Välimäki’s total pot from the main tours is exactly 7,832,252 euros. Finland’s number one player of the beginning of the millennium Mikko Ilonen total earnings were 7,668,489 euros.

Välimäki was narrowly ahead of Ilonen even before the weekend’s PGA tour race in Texas. There, the person from Nokia finished in a shared 14th place and received almost 140,000 euros in prize money.

Välimäki, 27, passed Ilonen in February. He still has time to break away from Ilose and the third place in the ranking list Mikko Korhosenbecause the Nokia native has plenty of good playing years left.

Of the individual seasons, last year has been clearly the most profitable for Välimäki. Last year, he won more than three million euros, most of it at the PGA.

A clear highlight of the competitions has been the historic victory of the RSM Classic competition at the end of last year, which brought more than a million euros in prize money to Välimäki.

This week, Välimäki competes for the first time in a traditional major competition at the Masters tournament in Augusta, Georgia.
