A Canal + drone will film the Racing 92-Stade Français match from Paris La Défense Arena, a first in the Top 14

Canal + and the Top 14 are innovating. Sunday evening, Racing 92 will host Stade Français at the end of the 21st day of the French Rugby Championship (9:05 p.m.). Beyond the always-awaited event represented by the Ile-de-France derby, the broadcaster’s system will be special.

Indeed, Canal + will dispatch a drone to broadcast the meeting from Paris La Défense Arena, reports the newspaper L’Équipe. Never before has such a device been used to broadcast a Top 14 match or a meeting of this level on French soil.

Facilitated by the roof

Contrary to what some might think, the presence of a roof made this first easier. As the stadium is closed, it is not subject to the regulations of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC). A priori, the drone will offer more possibilities to the broadcaster and different shooting angles. The remotely controlled camera will be active during the meeting.

Canal + has already carried out a test with a drone during a game of rugby 7, reports L’Équipe. It was already in Paris La Défense Arena. The retransmission promises new images for a match which already had no shortage of challenges with Stade Français (3rd) fighting for the podium and Racing 92 lying in wait in 7th place.
