Casademont Zaragoza and Spar Girona advance to the semis in the Women’s Euroleague

Casademont Zaragoza and Spar Girona have advanced to the semifinals of the 2025-26 Women’s Euroleague, whose Final Six is being played since this Wednesday at the Príncipe Felipe Pavilion in Zaragoza, after beating Basket Landes (53-69) and Umana Reyer Venezia (70-64) respectively.

At the venue, Girona was the first of the two Spanish representatives to play. A triple by Chloe Bibby put the Catalans up 19-10, but the Venetian team equalized the score after the first quarter ran out (19-19). However, supporting actresses like Mariam Coulibaly and Carolina Guerrero promoted another growth spurt at halftime (39-28).

Upon returning from the locker room, Roberto Íñiguez’s players began with good management of their income, but Reyer Venezia gradually closed that difference and with the leading role of Ivana Dojkic. Up front, with the help of Juste Jocyte, Girona remained ahead (56-47) at minute 30.

Coulibaly and Guerrero continued to score and the Girona team had a +13 (64-51), but it did not last long because Lorela Cubaj joined Ivana Dojkic’s offensive display in a Reyer Venezia that did not give up. Even so, the management of nerves was better in Girona and Klara Holm’s free throws sealed that victory to meet Fenerbahçe Opet in the semis.

On the other side of the draw, the quarterfinal match vibrated with the presence of the host in a full stadium. Of course, equality dominated the first period and it was not until the second when the host team made a move thanks to the intimidation of Merritt Hempe in the low post.

In addition, Carlos Cantero’s students worked hard on defense to go into halftime with 26-35. After returning to the field, nothing changed and Landes accused a lack of resources. Murjanatu Musa had assumed the weight of the attack and few teammates followed her rhythm, seeing the French team nullified.

They were so far behind (40-62) at minute 30 that they only had the epic left, although they barely reduced the distance on the scoreboard in a final period of celebrations for the Zaragoza fans. This comfortable victory helped Casademont advance to the semi-finals and meet Galatasaray there.
