MotoGP, pole and sprint for Marc Marquez in Hungary

“Aiming for the podium or victory? It’s not realistic.” Marc Marquez he contradicts himself just 48 hours after saying these words. On the eve of the Hungarian MotoGP Grand Prix, the nine-time world champion had revealed his condition just a few weeks after the double operation he had undergone. In the end, however, he is the one who dominates and wins sprint on the Balaton track, after taking pole position in the morning.

“On Friday I tried to save energy, this morning I pushed because if you start ahead it helps a lot – he admitted the Spanish Ducati rider – Yesterday I was in eco mode, today super sport, tomorrow I have to be in sport mode. In three days the physique hasn’t changed, but the track has changed. Here there are a few places where I suffer with my right arm.”

Pedro Acosta confirms the second place obtained in qualifying, admitting that “the pace that Marquez had from the start was impressive”. Acosta says he is satisfied, but he could also be Marco Bezzecchi, third and now +20 in the standings over teammate Jorge Martin (now sixth), his main rival in the title race.

“It was a very difficult sprint – Bez’s words -. At the beginning it was difficult to find the rhythm. Luckily the start went well, but after I felt a contact I had difficulty with the rear, so I’m happy for the result achieved after difficult moments”.

A step back, however, for Ducati Pecco Bagnaia, which does not go beyond ninth place, and for Fabio Di Giannantonioonly tenth at the finish line. “I’m not happy with how the race went. The start wasn’t too bad, I was sixth in the first corners. We can improve the bike, on this track where it’s so hard to brake it’s important to come out strong, but I struggled.” On Sunday we start again (almost) from scratch, with a long race that could put Marquez in more difficulty than the sprint.
