Otto Virtanen out of the second round of Wimbledon

At Wimbledon the faded Finnish tennis star Otto Virtanen in the taival grand slam tournament has ended.

Virtanen lost Britain Arthur Ferylle in the second round match, set 1–3. Fery won the match 5–7, 7–6 (7–3), 6–3, 6–3.

The first two sets were even, but Virtanen’s mistakes in the decision points proved costly.

“It’s really sad. The opponent was really good today,” Virtanen says in the audio tape sent by the Tennis Association.

“During the match I tried to vary my approach, but nothing seemed to work. It was a difficult day today.”

Fery hit 43 putts, while Otto Virtanen hit 41 putts. Arthur Fery won 81 percent of his first serve points.

Arthur Fery advances to the next round and continues his good mood after a strong victory. Arthur Fery is ranked 114 on the ATP list. Virtanen’s ranking is 140. He has previously reached the second round of Wimbledon in 2024.

Fery will face either the Belgian in the third round Zizou Bergsin or Portuguese Jaime Farian. Bergs is ranked 37th in the world, Faria is ranked 98th.

Virtanen, who made it through the qualifying rounds to the tournament itself, sensationally knocked down fourth-placed American Ben in the first round Shelton’s.

Virtanen Earns 126,000 pounds from the tournament, or about 146,000 euros.

“Even though I didn’t reach my best today, it’s been a good week,” Virtanen summed up.

“A lot of good matches. This is exactly what has been needed and it is good to continue on from this.”
