Roger Schmidt will succeed Jürgen Klopp at Red Bull

Just a week after parting ways with Jürgen Klopp, Red Bull presented its new football boss. Roger Schmidt becomes “Head of Global Soccer”. His long-term contract begins on October 1, 2026.

“We are pleased to welcome Roger Schmidt back to Red Bull,” CEO Oliver Mintzlaff is quoted as saying in a press release. “With his experience and expertise, he is the right person. His philosophy reflects our football DNA.”

“Shaping the next chapter”

Schmidt is looking forward to the new challenge. “I start in October and will meet the people behind the clubs. The potential is enormous and I am highly motivated to help shape the next chapter in Red Bull’s history.”

After the World Cup, the DFB parted ways with team boss Jürgen Nagelsmann. Red Bull released its previous head of football, Klopp, so that he could become Nagelsmann’s successor.
