Bundesliga football team 1. FC Union Berlin botched the next test match in its preparation for the season. Dynamo Dresden, on the other hand, managed a successful dress rehearsal before the start of the second division. The Saxons won 2-1 (1-1) in front of 25,022 spectators in the Rudolf Harbig Stadium. For Union it was the fifth test match in a row without a win.
After Union’s lead by Tom Rothe (19th minute), Niklas Hauptmann (22nd) and Vincent Vermeij (52nd) turned the game in favor of the home side.
For the Dresden team it was the official season opener before their second division opener on August 9th (1:30 p.m.). 1. FC Nuremberg. Union still have three weeks of preparation time left before the first competitive game on August 23rd in the DFB Cup at Eintracht Braunschweig.
Several Union players are missing
Union coach Mauro Lustrinelli initially used a formation that played around 70 minutes. Then all field players were completely replaced. On Sunday (2 p.m.) in the next friendly against Cagliari Calcio, things are likely to be the other way around.
The Köpenickers had to do without a number of injured or sick players. They included Frederik Rönnow, Matheo Raab, Stanley Nsoki, Tim Skarke, Oliver Burke, Andrej Ilic, Robert Skov and Andrik Markgraf.
