Debutant Brennan takes his third Vuelta stage win

Felix Gall ranks third, 1:39 minutes behind the leader in the red jersey. The Slovenian lies between Mas and the East Tyrolean Primoz Roglic (+1:18 min.) also in waiting position.

Brennan once again benefited from the perfect preparatory work of his Visma teammates Wout van Aert and Christophe Laporte, who guided the 21-year-old optimally into the home straight. There was no way for the sprint competition to get past the Englishman, who was doing his first three-week tour. Brennan had already won the second and fifth stages in the mass sprint.

He is following in the footsteps of his role model Mark Cavendish, who also won three stages on his first Tour of Spain in 2010. As the best Austrian, Patrick Konrad crossed the finish line in Lorca in 23rd place. Gregor Mühlberger and Gall, ninth overall, ranked 40th and 42nd at the same time as Brennan.

Hard mountain stage ahead

After two easier sections, the 12th stage takes place back into the mountains on Thursday. The next mountain arrival awaits at the Calar Alto observatory. Over the almost 167 km, the field has to overcome more than 4,500 meters of altitude, and at the end there is a final climb in the first category on the program.
