Chevi Guzmán wins the first gold for Spain at the World Skate Games in Argentina

The World Skate Games in Argentina in 2022 saw the debut of the Spanish team’s gold medal, which was won by speed skater Jhoan Sebastian “Chevi” Guzmán of Spain in the 200m TT Dual competition.

Just two weeks after winning four gold medals and setting a world record for the 200-meter distance at the European Championship, “Chevi,” a skater for FSV Vigo of Venezuelan descent, dominated the test to confirm his good form.

With a time of 19.980 seconds, Ruth Arza previously took home the silver medal in the junior division for the same event. The Royal Spanish Skating Federation (RFEP) has added two more medals to their collection of one gold, three silver, and one bronze in these World Skate Games. Alejandro Cortés finished tenth in the junior men’s division, and Luisa González finished ninth in the senior women’s division.

Galician Manuel Taibo finished sixth in the Junior Points + Elimination for the long-distance events, just missing the podium. Patxi Peula placed thirteenth in the male senior in the elimination round.

Mery Muoz secured her spot in the Roller Freestyle final in Street by placing second with 81.72 points, just.1 behind Chihiro Azuma of Japan, who took first place. She finished fourth in the semifinals of the Scooter event with a score of 86.43 points, and will compete for the Guifré Obradors medals there as well.

Leo Vinicius, who is only 10 years old, made his World Skate Games debut by competing in the qualifiers for Skate but was unable to go past the quarterfinals.

While the junior and senior dancing couples compete in their Free Dances, the Spanish women’s inline hockey team competes in the World Cup final versus France on Sunday at 23:00 (Spanish peninsula time) in hopes of winning their first championship.
