Thanks to Gündogans: ManCity takes the second step towards the triple

2-1 victory in the FA Cup final against city rivals United. Manchester City wins after two goals from Germany’s Gundogan at Wembley

Manchester City has taken the second step on the way to the triple they are aiming for. After winning the league title, Coach Guardiola’s team beat city rivals Manchester United 2-1 in the FA Cup final.

But there will probably not be a big celebration, because City wants to win their third title next Saturday. Then the Champions League final against Inter Milan is on the agenda in Istanbul. United will have to settle for the League Cup title this season.

dream start

ManCity got off to a dream start at London’s Wembley Stadium. Only 13 seconds had been played when Gündogan took the ball straight away and scored from almost 20 meters to make it 1-0 (1st). Nobody has scored faster in an FA Cup final.

It took the Red Devils some time to recover from the shock but they were expected to equalize before the break. After Grealish got the ball on his hand, there were penalties, Fernandes didn’t let this chance pass him by – 1:1 (33rd). United legend David Beckham also cheered in the stands.

Not for long, however, because Gündogan scored again immediately after the restart. This time it took five minutes before he scored again after a free kick from De Bruyne (51′).

As a result, City did not manage to close the sack, but also did not allow much. Until stoppage time.

Since McTominay missed the great opportunity to equalize, only hit the crossbar (92nd).
