A terrible tragedy has hit Lyngby captain Marcel Rømer.

On Monday, the 30-year-old midfielder’s wife, Cecilie, passed away.

This is confirmed by Lyngby Boldklub’s managing director, Andreas Byder, to Ekstra Bladet.

– Unfortunately, we can confirm the absolutely terrible news that Marcel lost his wife Cecilie on Monday. All our thoughts go to Marcel, the couple’s two children and the whole family who have lost. It’s a completely unreal situation that we can all get into and that really hurts everyone in the club.

– In this deeply unhappy situation, we have of course offered Marcel and the family all the help and support they need at all. But the most important thing is that Marcel and the family get all the time, peace and space they need. We hope that fans, media and other stakeholders will respect this in this difficult time ”.

Marcel Rømer has also shared the tragic news in a post on his social media.

– February 28, the love of my life tragically passed away. Thank you for all the love that has already been sent our way – and just as much thank you for the love that continues to be sent, he writes and continues:

– Sille. My heart is broken. This should never happen. You do not deserve this. Right now I am thinking of all the dreams and goals we had as a couple and as a family that we never achieved. It hurts to think about.

– It hurts to think that your lovely children should not grow up with their amazing mother – but you should know that everything I make of choices in the future will be in order to make you proud. Your children are in good hands and we have friends and family around us to support us.
