During his career, Jack Wilshere has played on a sea of beautiful carpets and some of Europe’s largest stadiums.
But stormy weather in East Jutland and heavy rain over Vejle Stadium in the days leading up to his debut still surpassed everything the midfielder has previously experienced:
– It was a nice debut. It went back and forth, standing 2-2 (when Jack Wilshere was substituted, ed.). However, it was the worst track I have ever seen, says Jack Wilshere to the English media talkSPORT.
Jack Wilshere was substituted in the 90th minute, but still got a quarter on the field due to the long extra time when the stadium light went out midway through the second half:
– We played against a team that did not like to play football. Every time they got the ball, they just kicked far. We were sucked into the way we play football, and that’s not what we want, he says.
With Jack Wilshere on the field, AGF also ended up collecting a goal after a standard situation in the tenth extra minute, which secured Vejle the victory with the figures 3-2.
Thus, AGF and the massive fan base that had turned up to see their new very few debut, had to take the sluggish home to Aarhus. However, they can rejoice in the Englishman’s roses:
– Our fans are the best I’ve ever seen. They sang and cheered from the time we started warming up, says Jack Wilshere.
