Nadim on Qatar: ‘I know there are problems’
In the past, Peter Schmeichel has attracted attention as the official World Cup ambassador for FIFA, and now the turn has come for his compatriot, Nadia Nadim.
On Instagram Friday morning, she reveals that she is now officially an ambassador for FIFA and Qatar ahead of the final round in November and December.
– So, finally it’s in place! It’s a great honor to announce that I’m officially the FIFA World Cup Ambassador!
– I look forward to sharing the excitement with you as we work towards the tournament.
One would hope it was an April Fool’s joke, but it seems real enough now.
In the company of Beckham
Nadia Nadim has made no secret of the fact that she is visiting Qatar again these days, where she has, among other things, watched a show match with, among others, Didier Drogba, while she has benefited from Ghanim Al-Muftah’s company.
The 19-year-old man suffers from caudal regression syndrome but has become a celebrity in Qatar.
The news comes after a few months where she has received sharp criticism for mingling with the controversial desert state, which she visited in December in the company of, among others, David Beckham in connection with the FIFA Arab Cup.
Striking because Nadim is an Afghan refugee from the Taliban who has had loyal support in the Qatar regime for many years.
In connection with the story of her participation in the Arab Cup, Ekstra Bladet spoke with Stanis Elsborg, senior analyst at Play the Game, who said:
– She is participating in the very well-oiled propaganda machine that Qatar is rolling out right now with stars like David Beckham in front. In this way, she helps to create the beautiful painting that the World Cup hosts long for.

– I went to Qatar for the first time in September to have my surgery performed on Aspetar, one of the best medical places in the world in the field of sports injuries. I got to know Aspetar while playing in PSG, and my choice to go there was easy because it was best for my rehabilitation, Nadim writes at the beginning of the post.
– Last week I traveled to Qatar for a follow-up – it is standard after the operation. While I was down there, I was invited to speak at the WISE Summit on Education. Following that, I had the opportunity to visit the Afghan Refugee Center with thousands of refugees from the country I was born in.
The aforementioned Beckham is also the official World Cup ambassador and, according to British media, receives more than a billion kroner for his work over a ten-year period.
Although Nadia Nadim is a football celebrity, it is doubtful whether she is in the same grade.
Ekstra Bladet has tried to get a comment from Nadia Nadim’s agent, Michael Kallbäck. At the time of writing, it has not succeeded.
