Union footballers win top game at Viktoria

The footballers of 1. FC Union Berlin won the top game of the Regionalliga Nordost. In front of Union President Dirk Zingler, the Köpenick women won 3-0 (1-0) against their pursuers FC Viktoria 1889 Berlin on Sunday. In front of 1,830 fans in the Lichterfelde Stadium, Lisa Heiseler (31st minute), Sarah Abu Sabbah (64th) and Dina Orschmann (79th) scored the goals.

“In the end, Viktoria didn’t even have a really dangerous shot on goal, so we deserved to win by a margin,” said head coach Ailien Poese. Goal scorer Lisa Heiseler said: “At the beginning we had a bit of problems building up the game, our game was still too static. But we had a lot of possession there and dominated the opponent.”

This means that the Unioners are still free of any points after 14 games and can have hopes of promotion to the second division. In order to advance to the higher division, the relegation against the northern champions would ultimately have to be contested. Henstedt-Ulzburg is currently ahead.
