Tennis tournament starts in Split, national team women travel to Lithuania

Firule in Split will host a very strong tournament this week W75 for female tennis players, and next week the Croatian women’s national team will perform in Lithuania at the tournament of the Second Group of the Billie Jean King Cup.

At the same time, the ATP Challenger and the international wheelchair tennis tournament will be held in Split, and everything will be concluded at the end of April, also with a professional tennis tournament. The entire program was presented on Tuesday in Split.

– We don’t have much time. We were recently elected, and moreć a competition in Lithuania is waiting for us. We didn’t have time to prepare, the girls have their own tournament schedule… The clay season has started, and in Lithuania we will play indoors on a hard surface, which can be very fast. That’s why the term is not ideal for us. Petra Martić and Donna Vekić they come from the American tour, we from the country in Split. But our girls are used to such challenges, we will try to facilitate that transition and do the best for our tennis – said the coach of the national team Marin Bradarićwho was elected to that position on the initiative of his uncle.

Among the players who traveled to Lithuania for the conference were Tara Würth, Lea Bošković and Iva Primorac.

– Tara was not in the plan to perform this time. She is one of our most promising tennis players, but she had problems with an injury, so we wanted to give her time to catch up. However, as Lucija Ćirić Bagari, who is having an outstanding season, canceled at the last moment, yesterday we spoke here in Split with Tara and she responded immediately. She has to skip a few tournaments in order to be with us in the national team – pointed out Bradari’s assistant. Izo Žunić.

The executive director of HTS then spoke about the Croatian Tennis Pro Tournaments series Vladimir Jovanoski.

– I would like to thank the City of Split. This tournament, Split Open, is this year’s second competition from the Croatian Tennis Pro Tournaments series. Ten days ago, we concluded the ATP Challenger in Petr&ccaroni, and now four tournaments await us in Split. The first is the tennis tournament, which we have ‘increased’ to W75 compared to last year, so there is the ATP Challenger Split and in the same week the wheelchair tennis tournament, and after a week’s break the ITF World Tennis Tour tennis M15. The total prize fund of all tournaments from the Croatian Tennis Pro Tournaments series is more than half a million dollars and is an ideal opportunity for our players to gain points and financial resources. In addition, I am glad that the City of Split and the Public Institution for Sports Facilities are preparing a hard surface project in Split – said Jovanoski.

This year’s series of professional tournaments that will be organized by the Croatian Tennis Federation. started with the ATP Challenger in Petr&ccaroni, will continue in Split, and then points will be collected in Osijek, Dubrovnik, Zagreb and Bol.
