The elections for the presidency of the Federation will be held on May 6

The Managing Commission of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has unanimously approved this Wednesday the call for elections for next May 6. Unaware of the noise generated by the records of two weeks ago, and the current president unaware of the suspicions surrounding his management, the elections are going to be held (in principle).

In the meeting held in Ciudad del Ftbol it was not confirmed that Pedro Rocha, current president of the Management Company, is going to appear in said elections, although the leader’s intention is to do so unless the TAD (Administrative Court of Sports) disqualifies him soon (some sources announce that this same Thursday there could be a decision). In fact, he has presented his resignation as president of the Management Company, an essential step to be a candidate. Instead be Rafael del Amo who directs the electoral process.

This call was going to take place on March 20, when the Civil Guard broke into the offices to turn everything upside down. So, once the hot flash has passed, the announced electoral calendar is as follows: next Friday, the 5th, the call will be made official and the next day, Saturday the 6th, it will be public. Starting Monday the 7th, interested parties will have five days to present their applications. After this period, there will be two days to present appeals to the TAD and, once resolved, the candidacies will be final.

And who can show up? Any human being of Spanish nationality, who has no record or pending cases with justice and who obtains the endorsement of 15% of the Assembly, which originally had 140 members and which today barely exceeds a hundred, since many of them, Luis Enrique o Jorge Vildafor example, are no longer there.

Precisely for this reason Miguel Galn, president of the National Football Coaches Training Center, has already announced that he is going to challenge this call, and that, according to him, there are almost 30% of the members of the assembly who have dropped out and have not been replaced, as stated in the Statutes of the Federation. In the Federation itself, however, they say they have legal reports that support their electoral proposal.

The shadows are gathering over Rocha, whom the summary of Operation Brody, revealed yesterday by EL MUNDO, depicts as a man who, through third parties, has been maneuvering all these months to perpetuate himself in the presidency. The UCO agents, from the wiretaps of Tomás González Cueto, conclude that the former external legal advisor of the Federation tries to “in the next electoral process the current Management Board can be maintained and thus perpetuate its positions”according to the Civil Guard report.

To achieve this goal, Cueto speaks with several people, including the general director of the Higher Sports Council, Fernando Molinero, “so that it convinces third parties” on issues related to the electoral process. Finally, the report on these wiretaps concludes: “Rocha asks Cueto for his opinion to make certain decisions and even acts following Cueto’s guidelines.“.
