Berrettini rises again in Marrakech, tomorrow the derby against Sonego

Tomorrow there will be an Italian derby in the quarter-finals of the “Grand Prix Hassan II”, the 579,320 euro ATP 250 which is being played on the red clay courts of Marrakech, Morocco. Matteo Berrettini, the fourth seeding favourite, will challenge Lorenzo Sonego, who beat the Spaniard Jaume Munar 6-4 4-6 6-3 after two hours and 20 minutes of play. It is the fourth meeting between the two Italians: Berrettini is ahead 2-1, including the last match last year, in the first round of Wimbledon. The second round, however, proved fatal for Flavio Cobolli: the 21-year-old Roman, number 63 at ATP and eighth seed, lost 6-1 7-6(5) to the Russian Pavel Kotov, number 68 in the ranking and against who had always won up to now on the three previous occasions. And Kotov will be Fabio Fognini’s opponent tomorrow. An unprecedented challenge between the two with the Ligurian who, promoted from the qualifiers, defeated Laslo Djere, number 1 seed, 7-6(1) 2-6 6-4 in almost two and a half hours of play.
