Blåfield supported IFK for more than 50 years.

Helsinki IFK: take decades worth Eero Blåfield has died at the age of 102. The club said that Blåfield slept off on Tuesday.

He was the club’s long-time season ticket holder and naturally the club’s oldest member.

HIFK expressed its condolences in the message service X.

“Eero’s strength suddenly ran out last week. Those close to them say that even in the last moments, Blåfield gave his thoughts to his beloved club,” HIFK writes in X.

“With his last strength, he continued to tell the club how next season HIFK would have a chance to win gold.”

From Espoo veteran of three wars Blåfield said In an interview with HS last fall, that he started attending HIFK’s home matches regularly in 1966.

He said that he got a lot of content in his life from decades of following ice hockey and above all IFK.

Friends have been found along the way among supporters of both my own and other clubs.

“It’s been such an uplifting thing in that there’s always been someone to argue with, who’s going to win and so on. Especially with joker supporters,” he said.

Blåfield also enjoyed other IFK sports, although puck was his main interest.

The possible future meetings between IFK and Jokeri were not on my mind in the fall. My thoughts focused on my beloved company.

“Once IFK, always IFK. It won’t get you anywhere,” was the reasoning.
