Back to Athletico attacking midfielder Nikão was thrilled to meet the fans again at the Ligga Arena this Sunday (21), before the match against International for the 3rd round of the Brasileirão.
Before the ball rolled, the Athletico idol spoke to Rede Furacão on the stadium’s lawn, talked about the two and a half years he was away from the club and said he was ready to make his debut for Rubro-Negro next weekend – against Juventude , out of home.
“I’m a fan and I suffered a lot during the time I was left out. But at the same time I learned a lot and nothing beats the affection and love that I always felt here, that they gave me during the seven years that I was here. I hope the story continues for a long time,” he said.
“I was able to spend some time away to recover from an injury that limited my movements and I’m available for Professor Cuca next weekend, I want to help as much as I can every time I wear this shirt.”
Very emotional, Nikão had his name shouted by the crowd and received applause. The midfielder commented on this return being precisely in the year of Athletico’s centenary.
“I couldn’t be left out at such an important moment for the club. [centenário]. It was supposed to be some time ago, but it wasn’t viable. Anyway, I’m very happy to look at this crowd and contemplate so many wonderful moments”, concluded Nikão, who also took photos with some fans.
The Furacão idol will not be able to play against Danubio next Wednesday (24), at 7pm, in Uruguay, as he is not registered in the South American Championship. Nikão will only be able to play from the round of 16 onwards.
