Swiss marathon runner Lehmann dies after heart attack

The Swiss marathon runner Adrian Lehmann has died as a result of a heart attack. The Swiss athletics association Swiss Athletics announced this with reference to the family. The 34-year-old was one of the best Swiss long-distance runners. Last year he set a personal best of 2:11:44 hours at the Zurich Marathon. This puts him in sixth place on the all-time national best list. Lehmann still wanted to qualify for the Olympics in Paris.

“Adrian Lehmann suffered a heart attack during the final preparations for the Zurich Marathon. In recent days, the consequences of this have proven to be more serious than initially thought. Unfortunately, Ädu could not be helped despite the best medical care. He left us on Saturday evening and fell asleep forever,” said a statement from Lehmann’s relatives on Sunday.

Lehmann suffered the heart attack last Thursday and was taken to the hospital after emergency medical treatment.
