Kobayashi is said to have broken the world strength record in Iceland

Ryoyo Kobayashi behind Salzburg last winter Stefan Kraft Second in the overall World Cup, has it on Island apparently testing the limits of ski flying.

On a makeshift ski jump, the national broadcaster RUV showed from a great distance how the Japanese flies far into the run-out from the facility built on a mountain. A flight of 300 m was apparently planned. According to RUV information, Kobayashi managed 256 m, which is 2.5 m above Kraft’s world record.

According to reports, the Hlidarfjall ski area was temporarily closed for the record hunt. According to the broadcaster, Kobayashi’s main sponsor Red Bull is said to have signed a contract with the city of Akureyri for the construction of the ski jump. The energy drink company will accompany the whole thing with several drones and cameras.

World records are only recognized in official competitions. After the Harrachov air facility was closed, there are only four ski flying hills left in the world where World Cup flying takes place: the Kulm near Bad Mitterndorf in Styria, Kraft’s world record hill in Vikersund in Norway, Planica in Slovenia and Oberstdorf in the Allgäu.
