SÃO PAULO, SP (UOL-FOLHAPRESS) – Pep Guardiola revealed that he has plans to be president of Barcelona in the future.
Guardiola revealed his plans for the future while appearing in a documentary about Laureus Award winner Aitana Bonmatí.
Aitana expressed her desire to be Barcelona’s sporting director and to hire Guardiola as coach. However, the coach revealed that he is thinking of another way to return to the club. He stated that there is still a step to be taken in Catalonia.
Most of Guardiola’s playing career was spent wearing the Barcelona shirt. He played for the team from 1988 to 2001 — passing through some of the club’s categories.
As a coach, the Spaniard led Barça B for one season and moved up to the main team in 2008, remaining until 2012. As commander of the Catalan team, he won two Champions Leagues, three Spanish Cups and two Club World Cups, including a sextet in 2009.
“Barcelona is my favorite club. I owe everything to Barcelona, it would be impossible to be here without it. Barcelona is part of my life, but this move to City was very special, building step by step, little by little”, he said Guardiola when he won FIFA’s 2023 best coach award.
