Xavi Hernandez remains the coach for another year FC Barcelona. The 44-year-old agreed to this with the club’s management on Wednesday evening, the sports newspapers reported, among others Brand and Sport. The club confirmed the head coach’s whereabouts a little later. The agreement comes a week after the exit in the Champions League quarter-finals. Barcelona all but lost their championship title after a 3-2 defeat at Real Madrid on Sunday.
Xavi took over Barcelona in November 2021 and led the club to the championship last season. The former world and European champion justified his retirement, which was initially announced for the summer, with the hope of a quick sporting turnaround and the great mental strain of the work. His contract with the “Blaugrana” runs until 2025.
