Athletico breaks surplus record;  see balance sheet details

For the tenth consecutive year, the Athletico presented a surplus in its financial statement. The club released the financial details for 2023, on Monday night (29), at a meeting of the Deliberative Council. The net surplus value was R$383.2 million, a historic record for Hurricane – in 2002, the value was R$47.6 million.

The club’s total gross revenue rose from R$424.1 million, in 2022, to R$898.9 million, in 2023. With broadcasting rights, Athletico showed a drop in revenue, which dropped from R$129, 1 million (2022) to R$79.7 million (2023).

On the other hand, there was a large growth in revenue from the sale of athletes, mainly driven by the transfer of striker Vitor Roque to Barcelona. Total revenue was R$241 million.

The club’s expenses also grew, going from R$320 million to R$428 million in 2023.

Athletico also confirmed that it maintained its level of around 40 thousand members and obtained revenue of R$45 million from the membership program. With the official store and online commerce, revenue was R$24.5 million. The club also earned R$11 million from advertising at the stadium and R$8.4 million from other revenue.

Finally, the sale of the naming rights of Arena da Baixada to Ligga yielded R$8.1 million to Furacão in 2023.

O The club also highlighted the signing of the tripartite agreement on the additional amount to be paid by the State of Paraná and the City of Curitiba. In July, Athletico paid R$50 million from the agreement with Fomento Paraná, responsible for financing the renovation of the stadium for the 2014 World Cup. The remaining R$136 million will be paid off over 15 years.
