Sweden is assembling a wild World Cup team – now a giant has caught on – Urheilu

Sweden gets all its star defenders on the World Cup ice. In total, there are already around a dozen NHL confirmations – and more will probably be coming.

Year then the Swedish World Cup team was not packed with NHL stars, but now Sam Hallamin the group has a different sound on the clock. Tre Kronor is putting together a wild star lineup for the tournament starting next week.

The newest addition to the World Cup team is Tampa Bay Lightning’s number one defenseman, Norris and Conn Smythe winner Victor Hedman33.

Already in Sweden’s basement, we found a strong stardom: Buffalo Rasmus Dahlin and Pittsburgh, who was chosen as the NHL’s best defenseman last season Erik Karlsson.

Sweden is going to the games practically with an NHL defense, because the team also includes Minnesota’s credit warrior Jonas Brodin and Pittsburgh Marcus Pettersson.

Hedman, Dahlin and Karlsson were clearly the three most effective Swedish defensemen in the NHL this season. Hedman, who scored 76 points in 78 matches, was the spearhead.

Victor Hedman celebrated winning the Stanley Cup in 2020 and 2021. In his first championship year, he was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy for the playoffs’ most valuable player.

Karlsson was last seen at the World Championships in 2012, Hedman in 2017.

“The last time I played in the World Cup tournament, we won gold and I hope that we will continue on the same track now. I know the competition is tough, but I’m not coming to the Czech Republic to finish second,” Hedman declared Aftonbladetille.

Sweden’s success at the World Cup has been poor in recent years. It has not medaled once since its double championship in 2017 and 2018.

in Sweden already has 15 NHL signings in its World Cup group, three of which are goalkeepers.

Along with the defensive stars, the biggest names are Minnesota’s top center Joel Eriksson MeDetroit’s young forward Lucas Raymond and two-time Stanley Cup winner Andre Burakovsky.

Sweden will get even more NHL confirmations from the first round of the playoffs, because, for example, the Los Angeles Kings, who were eliminated on Thursday morning, have several Swedes playing. Swedish stars also fall from, for example, the Vancouver–Nashville series.

Finland There are four NHL players in the WC group so far: Mikael Granlund, Olli Määttä, Valtteri Puustinen and Jesse Puljujärvi. At this point, it seems that the NHL is no longer coming to Leijon, as the biggest Finnish stars have either taken or are about to take their teams to the second round of the playoffs.

Along with Sweden, the USA also has an exceptionally famous World Cup team. Canada has not yet announced its own team in more detail, but that too will presumably consist entirely of NHL players.

The World Cup will be played in the Czech Republic from 10 to 26 May. Finland plays in Prague in the A group, Sweden in Ostrava in the B group.
