Red Bull is now also taking off in cycling

The takeover of German Radteams Bora-hansgrohe through Red Bull is perfect. The team announced this on Thursday a few days before the start of the Giro d’Italia. However, the new owner will only be visible at the start of the Tour de France on June 29th in Florence. The racing team will then officially go by the name Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe with the UCI world association, he continues to ride with a German license.

The previous Team chief Ralph Denk signed a multi-year contract as CEO and will remain in his role. “Victory and great success motivate me. With the arrival of Red Bull we have big goals,” said Denk.

“The goal is to become the benchmark in terms of sport and economy,” said Denk. With the new owner, the team rises financially to the top ranks. According to dpa information, the budget of 25 million euros will increase to around 45 million euros per year. This means that Red Bull will have similar requirements as the UAE team around cycling star Tadej Pogacar. The Slovenian goes into the Giro on Saturday as the big favorite.

When asked about rumors that big ones are coming soon Rad-Topstars including Remco Evenepoel and Wout van Aert to switch to the team, Denk said jokingly: “Everyone who has drunk a can of Red Bull in the past has been associated with us.” The team also has three Austrians under contract: Marco Haller, Patrick Gamper and Alexander Hajek.
