Guto Ferreira is no longer Coritiba coach

Guto Ferreira is no longer the team’s coach Coritiba. The coach was fired after the defeat for Sport within Couto Pereirathis Friday (3), 1-0. The decision was announced by Coritiba football executive William Thomas in a press conference after the game.

“We came to announce the resignation of our coach Guto Ferreira, as well as his technical staff. We also thank you for your work and commitment. There was no lack of effort and search for evolution. The next steps and next decisions we will publish on social media. We immediately have the participation of professor James Freitas who will take over as interim”, said Thomas.

In command of Alviverde this season, Guto did not achieve good results. He was eliminated in the semifinals of the Campeonato Paranaense, against Maringá, and fell in the first phase of the Copa do Brasil, against Águia de Marabá.

For Coxa, in 2024, Guto had nine wins, five draws and five defeats in 19 games. In Series B, he had a win, a draw and a defeat and his performance on the field was not convincing.

This Friday, Guto was heavily criticized by the white-and-white fans who booed the coach at several moments during the match. The game was marked by a lot of tension in the stands, fans took a banner in protest to Treecorp. The demonstration was violently stopped by security guards.

The coach had returned to Alviverde in December last year, after relegation in Serie A and the dismissal of Thiago Kosloski. Guto coached the team in 2022 and was responsible for staying in Série A.
