Ralf Rangnick is close to coaching Bayern Munich

German coach Ralf Rangnick is close to taking over as coach of Bayern Munich, succeeding his compatriot Thomas Tuchel, who will leave his position at the end of the current season.

Press reports revealed that Bayern Munich’s management intends to sign contracts with Ralph Rangnick, coach of the Austrian national team, before the end of this week, as the decision was unanimously approved by the members of the committee charged with contracting with Thomas Tuchel’s replacement.

Rangnick, 65 years old, has coached the Austrian national team since the summer of 2022, and led the team in 20 matches, during which he achieved 12 wins and 3 draws, and his best results were a friendly victory over Turkey, 6-1, last March.

The German coach led the Manchester United team temporarily, succeeding Norwegian Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, during the period from December 2021 until May 2022, to be succeeded by Dutchman Erik ten Hag.

Ralf Rangnick’s best achievements as a coach are achieving the league and cup championships with the Austrian team Red Bull Salzburg in the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 seasons, in addition to leading Schalke 04 to win the German Cup in the 2010-2011 season, and the German Super Cup in the 2011-2012 season, in addition to the League Cup. The league he achieved in his first term with the team in the 2005-2006 season.
