Crystal Palace attacks Manchester United and distances them from Europe

Manchester United were beaten at Crystal Palace’s home (4-0) in the last match of the thirty-sixth matchday of the Premier League, a result that leaves Erik ten Hag’s team out of the European competition spots.

Just 12 minutes after the opening whistle at Selhurst Park, Frenchman Michael Olise opened the scoring for the hosts after leaving Casemiro sitting. The Brazilian managed to find the net shortly before the half-hour mark, but the referee disallowed the goal due to a previous foul. A few minutes before the break, Jean-Philippe Mateta increased the Eagles’ lead with a powerful shot.

In the resumption, after another goal disallowed again to Casemiro, this time for offside, and a sensational save by André Onana on a volley from Hughes, Tyrick Mitchell added the third to the scoreboard due to the passivity of the United defense .

Olise, in the 67th minute, closed his double and poked into the wound of the ‘red devils’, now eighth with 54 points, two away from sixth place held by Newcastle. Crystal Palace, already saved (43), thus achieves its fourth victory in the last five games.
