OpenAI keep taking steps forward artificial intelligence (AI). In 2022 it revolutionized this technology with the appearance in our lives of ChatGPT, but now it opens the door to AI agents with its new tool called Operator.
It is a product that for now is intended for making purchases online, booking flights or getting a table at a restaurant. But the goal is for it to be able to do much more sophisticated tasks.
As explained in a report from Xataka, although the system acts with a certain autonomy, there are times when it will require the user’s decision. In addition, it also has the option of being programmed as for monthly purchases in a supermarket.
The model is called Computer-Using Agent (CUA), and it combines the vision capabilities of GPT-4o with advanced reasoning through reinforcement learning.
Of course, its use implies that everything is available to the agent, since he has access to both the screens and the buttons of the device, he can even record text notes.
For now it is in the research phase. The trial version can be accessed at operator.chatgpt.com. The company led by Sam Altman works with companies such as Uber, DoorDash, OpenTable and Instacart.
