Claudio Santamaria returns as Poirot for Audible

Claudio Santamaria plays the role of Hercule Poirot, a character defined by the actor as a figure guided by a maniacal logic and strategic rigor. Alongside him, Alberto Boubakar Malanchino takes up the role of Captain Arthur Hastings, offering the necessary counterpoint of humanity and frankness to the acuity of the detective with the famous moustache. The cast makes use of the participation of numerous names from the audio entertainment scene, including Alessandro Tiberi in the role of Alexander Cust and Jane Alexander in that of Lady Clarke, for a multi-voice narration involving more than thirty actors under the direction of Marco Mete.

The plot unfolds starting from an anonymous letter received by Poirot in 1935, signed simply with the first three letters of the alphabet. The sequence of crimes follows a strict pattern: Alice Ascher in Andover, Betty Barnard in Bexhill-on-Sea and Sir Carmichael Clarke in Churston. In every crime scene the only recurring element is the ABC Railway Guide, symbol of a challenge launched directly to the investigator’s deductive abilities. The investigation thus develops like a manhunt through the London fog and the locations of the English coast, in an attempt to unmask a culprit who systematically anticipates his moves through the post.

The immersive experience is completed by an original soundtrack by British musician Johnny Flynn in collaboration with Joe Zeitlin. The translation of the screenplay, edited by Valeria Marcheggiani and Roberto Malini, maintains the formal elegance of the original text, allowing the listener to completely immerse himself in the narrative mechanism of one of the most famous detective stories in world literature.
