Located in via Cristoforo Colombo, the space was born from an agreement between the Polytechnic of Turin, the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security (MASE) and Sogesid SpA. The primary objective is to provide constant technical-scientific support to public administrations in critical areas such as infrastructure, technological innovation and environmental sustainability.
The new headquarters follows the organizational model of the Brussels hub, positioning the university as a technical consultant for public governance. The structure is designed to facilitate the integration of advanced skills into regulatory processes, making technological research an immediately usable resource for the country’s competitive development.
“Through our hub in Rome, exactly as already happens with our headquarters in Brussels, we intend to underline a fundamental concept for us: we are a public university at the service of public institutions, both in Italy and in Europe“, declared Stefano Corgnati, Rector of the Polytechnic of Turin. “The function of the hub is to put our technical and technological skills at the service of policy makers, making the relationship with the institutions and innovation stakeholders continuous“.
Research and governance for climate objectives
The initiative fits in within the framework of the climate objectives and public interests defined by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). The pole is configured as a connection point for strengthen government-oriented activities and technological transfer towards the Public Administration and businesses.
Minister Gilberto Pichetto Fratin underlined the strategic importance of the hub: “The Polytechnic of Turin confirms itself as a valuable interlocutor for the Government and a point of reference of excellence in Italy which looks to the climate objectives undertaken“. According to the Minister, the structure is “instrumental to the University’s missions relating to the strengthening of governmental activities, research and technological transfer and internationalisation“.
The collaboration features Sogesid, an engineering company that operates in environmental remediation and territorial development. The CEO, Errico Stravato, highlighted how the cooperation confirms Sogesid’s function as “technical-operational structure at the service of public administrations and confirms our function as a link between the academic world and institutions in the sectors of environmental sustainability and infrastructural development“.
The hub therefore represents an evolution in institutional collaboration models, focusing on a physical and operational presence in the center of Roman legislative processes to accelerate the implementation of projects linked to the energy transition and the digitalisation of the PA.
