Samsung smart glasses revealed

The smart glass model is said to be Samsung Galaxy Glasses with a compact, screen-less design and integrated Gemini.

“Leak expert” OnLeaks cooperates with technology site Android Headlines Build an image of Samsung’s glass model based on information from the supply chain. The project is codenamed Jinju, temporarily called Galaxy Glasses, with a minimalist design, similar to the Meta Ray-Ban line, instead of bulky virtual reality glasses.

The highlight of Galaxy Glasses is that there is no display screen, helping to keep the appearance of fashionable glasses and weighing only 50g. Samsung may use photochromic lenses that automatically change color when exposed to sunlight and a directional speaker system, helping to listen to music or talk without headphones but still ensure privacy.

Although compact, Galaxy Glasses have a powerful enough configuration to handle AI tasks. The product is equipped with Qualcomm’s specialized Snapdragon AR1 chip for augmented reality devices and runs on the Android XR platform, with built-in Gemini AI. Users can give voice commands and ask and answer information directly with Google’s virtual assistant. The camera on the glasses has a resolution of 12 megapixels using a Sony IMX681 sensor, allowing for quick photography and video recording from the wearer’s perspective.

Samsung plans to develop three different smart glass lines. The leaked Jinju model is the standard version while the more advanced version is codenamed Haean with a microLED screen and launched in 2027.

The appearance of Galaxy Glasses shows that Samsung is diversifying its product portfolio besides smartphones, creating a closely connected ecosystem between phones, watches and smart glasses.

The company is expected to introduce this glass model at the Galaxy Unpacked event in July, along with the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Z Flip8 folding phones. Galaxy Glasses are expected to range in price from 379 to 499 USD (9.6-12.7 million VND), which is considered a direct competition with rival Meta Ray-Ban.
