Apple Introduces New Siri AI: An Artificial Intelligence Revolution at WWDC 2026

The voice assistant, named Siri AI, is supposed to conduct a more natural conversation, understand the user’s personal context and perform actions within various applications. Along with it, the company’s new operating systems, search improvements, adjustments to the Liquid Glass interface and new safety tools for families were announced.

The announcements were made at Apple’s annual developer conference, WWDC, held at the company’s headquarters in Cupertino, California. The event, which this year runs from June 8 to 12, focuses primarily on software and tools for application developers. Apple did not present new iPhones in it, and the updates revealed are expected to reach users later this year, after a trial period that will last in the summer months.

The main announcement was the new generation of Siri. According to Apple, Siri AI is able to better understand the context of the request, remember the continuation of the conversation and use information that appears on the screen or saved within the applications. In a demonstration held during the event, Siri was asked to show directions to the site previously seen in an Instagram post, without the user being required to type the name of the place or switch between the applications themselves. Siri AI will be launched first in the English language and later in other languages.

At the heart of the system is a second version of the artificial intelligence models developed by Apple. The company said the new models are capable of understanding speech, text and images. A new central mechanism should choose which model is suitable for each task and coordinate the information on the device, the cloud services and the various applications. Apple continues to use the name Apple Intelligence and has not replaced it with the new Siri brand.

One of the notable practical changes is the upgrade of the search mechanism on Apple devices. The company rebuilt the index on which Spotlight and other search tools are based. The device should catalog the content saved in it almost immediately upon its creation, allowing for faster locating of messages, e-mail, photos and documents. The improvement may be particularly significant for users who have thousands of files and messages and do not remember in which application or folder the information is saved.

Apple also introduced changes to the Liquid Glass interface, which was launched last year and drew criticism for its extensive use of transparency. In the new versions, the user will be able to control the intensity of the transparency and choose between a bright and transparent look and a darker and more opaque shade. The company has also changed the text labels, toolbars and window corners, with the aim of improving readability and allowing wider customization.

Apple has also developed improvements to the home application: from now on, the updates on what is happening in the smart home will understand each other and update the user on any changes. For example, if any device is turned on or a light is turned off, the updates will continue and update the user in “Live”. An improvement was also made in the link to the security cameras: from now on the iPhone will “understand” what is happening and will be able to describe to the user what is seen on the cameras – in text.

Updates were also made to the shortcuts application: most iPhone owners do not use shortcuts at all due to the awkwardness required to assemble them. From now on it will be simpler: the shortcuts app will also include a layer of artificial intelligence. The user will be able to give a command to the iPhone device which shortcut he wants to create, and the iPhone device will “understand” the request on its own and prepare the required shortcut for you by itself. For example, you can command the device: “Create a shortcut for me that will open the Wise app and take me back home” and the shortcut will be executed immediately.

When it lags behind Samsung and the whole world of artificial intelligence – Apple adds AI options to photos: it will be possible to create photos, change them, make wallpapers and emojis with endless creative options. Apple has also improved artificial intelligence for the photos themselves that you have taken, with options to change the photo, turn it from longitudinal (as in a “selfie”) to horizontal, eliminate wrinkles and bags under the eyes, or add objects, background and clothing.

The new operating system for Mac computers is called macOS Golden Gate 27, after the Golden Gate Strait in the San Francisco area. Apple promises faster opening of applications, improved responsiveness and more efficient search in photos and mail. The system is intended for computers based on Apple chips, while older Mac computers with Intel processors will not receive the main upgrade. Owners of the old computers are expected to continue receiving security updates for three years.

Another area that received a central place is the protection of children and teenagers. Parents will be able to separately approve websites their children wish to open, turn an existing account into a child account and set different time quotas for games, entertainment and social networks. A mechanism that blurs images suspected of containing nudity will also be extended to difficult or violent images.
