GloriA is a new tool for climate risk assessment in Croatia

GloRiA is part of a global Allianz initiative that is gradually being introduced in markets around the world, and Croatia is among the countries where the tool has recently been made available to citizens. It enables the assessment of climate risks based on a specific location and provides information on potential threats such as floods, storms, hail, fires and earthquakes, along with practical recommendations for preventive measures.

On the occasion of the presentation of the tool, Allianz Croatia organized an expert panel “Before it’s too late”, which was attended by representatives of science, civil society, the rescue system and the insurance industry.

– Climate risks are no longer a question of the future, but the reality we face today. As an insurer, we want to be a partner to our clients not only after the damage, but also before it happens, providing them with information and tools that help them protect their home and property. GloRiA is precisely one of such tools – a simple and accessible solution that enables citizens to better understand their own risks and make informed decisions – said Marijana Jakovac, President of the Allianz Hrvatska Management Board.

Prof. Ph.D. Branko Grisogono from the Faculty of Science and Mathematics warned that climate change is increasingly affecting the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events, while Tihana Velja, ambassador of the EU climate pact and co-founder of The Green Hub platform, emphasized the importance of educating and informing citizens in strengthening the resilience of communities.

The executive director of the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service (HGSS), Marko Rakovac, emphasized that prevention, timely information and preparation are key to reducing the consequences of crisis situations and the safety of citizens.

– Any timely information can help citizens to better prepare and protect themselves. That is why education and raising awareness about risks are an important part of building more resilient communities – said Marko Rakovac.

The presentation of the GloRiA tool is part of a wider Allianz strategy aimed at strengthening citizens’ resistance to climate change and the development of sustainable solutions that encourage prevention and responsible risk management. While GloRiA helps citizens understand the climate risks to which their home is exposed and encourages them to prepare in time, additional security is provided by home insurance Moj dom, intended to protect property from the consequences of various unforeseen events. Allianz thus combines education, prevention and insurance protection in a unique approach to risk management.
