Anthropic has announced that its most advanced cybersecurity model Mythos 5 is available again for a set of United States organizations that operate and defend critical infrastructure, after blocking access to all their clients at the request of the US Government.
The AI company suspended access to Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5 on June 12, its most advanced models presented that same week as the most powerful technology available to the general public and focused on cybersecurity.
This restriction was carried out by request of the United States Government, who issued a directive requesting cease its use to foreign citizens for reasons of “national security.” It was later revealed that this decision was motivated, in part, by suspicions that a group linked to China had accessed the capabilities of Claude Mythos and its consumer version Fable 5.
Now, Anthropic has detailed that, since the moment of the suspension, they have been working with the US government to find a solution and, finally, Mythos 5 is now available again for “a set of US organizationswho operate and defend critical infrastructure.”
This was shared this weekend through a publication on the social network restoring access for these organizations “quickly.” Likewise, they have announced that they continue working with the government to “expand access to Mythos 5” to more organizations soon and, in the same way, make Fable 5 is available again for general use by users, just as it was conceived.

Anthropic has not specified how many organizations are regaining access to Mythos 5 capabilities. However, Semafor has learned that the Trump administration has granted permission to distribute the cybersecurity model to more than 100 US institutions. This includes government institutions and companies.
It should be remembered that these models are launched with some security measures designed to prevent potential malicious use by limiting results to questions related to cybersecurity, biology or chemistry and referring these queries to a less capable AI model.
Despite these initial security guidelines, the United States Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick, has now claimed to have determined that adequate safeguards exist to allow certain trusted partners to access the Claude Mythos 5 model”, as reported by the aforementioned media.
Lutnick has also clarified that Anthropic has committed to working with the United States Government on “protocols, standards and launches” of their models. As a result, will no longer require a license to “export, re-export or transfer within the country” the Claude Mythos 5 model.
