Devil May Cry 5 rinasce su Switch 2 con la Devil Hunter Edition

In recent years, Capcom has consolidated a prominent position in the global gaming landscape, inaugurating a phase of constant successes and high-profile productions starting from 2017. Although the future of the Devil May Cry saga remains uncertain due to recent internal changes and leadership changes, the debut of Devil May Cry 5 Devil Hunter Edition on Nintendo Switch 2 represents a strategic opportunity to extend the use of one of the most popular chapters of the series to a new user base, capitalizing on the capabilities of the next generation Nintendo platform.

The narrative structure is structured around three protagonists committed to countering the demonic threat of Urizen, supported by an initial video compendium useful for newcomers to the saga. The core of the experience lies in a proven combat system that rewards the variety of offensive combinations within limited arenas. The evaluation of style, a key element of the franchise, encourages the abandonment of repetitive strategies in favor of a dynamic and diversified approach, closely linked to the technical peculiarities of each playable character.

Nero offers an optimal balance between close-range and long-range attacks, enriched by the introduction of the Devil Breakers, destructible cybernetic prosthetics that offer variable abilities, among which electric discharges and solutions inspired by other historical intellectual properties of the company stand out. Dante maintains the classic flexibility linked to the instant change of the four styles and weapons, enhanced by the Devil Trigger bar which allows you to temporarily unlock a demonic form with significantly increased offensive parameters to overcome situations of numerical disadvantage.

On the contrary, the management of the character V introduces a rhythmic variation that evokes dynamics similar to those observed in similar productions such as Bayonetta 3, delegating the fight to three distinct evocations before the final coup de grace delivered manually. This approach, however, generates a partial detachment from the direct action compared to the millimetric precision of the other protagonists. The offer is completed by the presence of Vergil, characterized by such speed and power as to redefine the approach to missions and offer a high-level alternative for advanced content.

From a technical point of view, the conversion for Nintendo hardware guarantees the achievement of sixty frames per second, a fundamental objective for preserving the original gaming experience. The stability of the frame rate however requires some visual sacrifices, which can be found in the definition of the rendering of polygonal details and in a slight loss of sharpness during portable mode. The absence of the Legendary Dark Knight mode precludes this edition from being the definitive version, but does not affect the overall value of a solid porting, capable of confirming the flexibility of the proprietary graphics engine.
