Samsung leads the folding market in Spain with 93% of sales since the first Galaxy Fold in 2019

The Galaxy devices account for 93 percent of all foldables sold in Spain since Samsung launched the first Galaxy Fold in 2019 until the first quarter of 2026.

Samsung, in an event that it traditionally holds with the press in Madrid every summer, has reviewed the seven years of folding mobile phones of the Korean brand and some figures on the situation of this segment in Spain.

“Since the first Galaxy Fold, 93 percent of all foldables that have been sold in Spain are from Samsung,” said the vice president and head of Mobile eXperience at Samsung Electronics Iberia, David Alonso, recalling that it was a category that at its launch created doubts about the resistance of the screen.

Precisely, last year Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold 7 as the thinnest folding book format of the entire series to date, as it went from the 12.1 mm folded and 5.6 mm unfolded thickness of the Z Fold 6 to 8.9 mm and 4.2 mm, respectively.

The mobile manufacturer, regarding the future of this segment of devices, has stated that foldables will “continue” as a category. Likewise, he shared that in 2025, the three best-selling foldables in Spain were from Samsung, a position that the company has also maintained in the first quarter of 2026.

In fact, the Korean manufacturer reached a share of 86 percent in units sold within the Spanish foldable market during the first quarter of this year, which consolidates it as the leader in this segment with devices dedicated to productivity and lifestyle in a format different from the traditional smartphone.
