Today, it was revealed that Electronic Arts and Lucasfilm Games will collaborate once more on three new Star Wars games: the upcoming entry in the Star Wars Jedi franchise, a strategy game, and a first-person shooter, all of which are being developed by Respawn Entertainment.

The development of Respawn’s Star Wars first-person shooter is overseen by game director Peter Hirschmann, who has a long and successful history with the Star Wars franchise. Game director Stig Asmussen shepherds the next chapter in the Star Wars Jedi tale. The new Star Wars strategy game, produced through a production partnership between Respawn and Bit Reactor, will be made by a new team under the direction of games industry veteran Greg Foertsch. The new Star Wars strategy game will be created by Bit Reactor, while Respawn will produce it.

Douglas Reilly, VP, Lucasfilm Games, commented, “We are pleased to continue working with the incredibly skilled teams at Respawn. We are excited to bring more incredible experiences to the galaxy far, far away because they have shown expertise in presenting epic Star Wars stories and best-in-class gameplay across multiple genres.

The trust and respect between the top teams at EA, Respawn, and Lucasfilm Games are highlighted by this new cooperation, which builds on the prior accomplishments of our relationship with EA, according to Sean Shoptaw, SVP, Walt Disney Games. We will produce fascinating unique games for a variety of audiences throughout the Star Wars galaxy, fueled by the knowledge and enthusiasm inside each team.

Working with Lucasfilm Games on a new first-person shooter set in the Star Wars universe is a dream come true for Hirschmann since he has always wanted to tell this particular tale. Hirschmann formerly served as LucasArts’ vice president of development and served as executive producer of the first two Star Wars Battlefront video games.

Building on Respawn’s award-winning background in game creation and proficiency in penning gripping Star Wars tales, group general manager and founder Vince Zampella will supervise this new stage of EA’s relationship with Lucasfilm.

We are avid Star Wars fans, and we are excited to collaborate with Lucasfilm Games on new games we have been wanting to create for a long time, added Zampella. “You should come along on our trip if you want to create fantastic Star Wars games.”
