Applications are an integral part of every phone, we use them from the moment we wake up throughout the day and they help us in almost every aspect of life, but they can also be a burden, especially when we have to use several of them for something like booking accommodation or buying a plane ticket. Deutsche Telekom therefore presented a concept phone with artificial intelligence at this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, together with Qualcomm and Brain.ai.
An artificial intelligence (AI)-based assistant replaces countless smartphone apps and the digital assistant understands your goals and takes care of the details.
The demo uses concrete examples to show that an AI smartphone can make life easier when planning trips, shopping, creating videos or editing photos. Deutsche Telekom’s generative interface powered by Brain.ai takes over the functions of various applications with the help of artificial intelligence and can perform all the daily tasks that would otherwise require several applications on a device. And you can control the assistant by voice or text.
– Artificial intelligence and large language models will soon become an integral part of mobile devices. We will use them to improve and simplify the lives of our users. Our vision is a magenta concierge for the smartphone without apps. A true everyday companion that fulfills needs and simplifies digital life – says Jon Abrahamson, chief product and digital officer of Deutsche Telekom.
AI for everyone
For the demonstration, real usage examples are integrated into Telekom’s T Phone, which is already available on the market, and in collaboration with Brain.ai, a pioneer of generative interfaces, an app-free interface is created where artificial intelligence predicts and generates the next interface contextually. On the one hand, it ensures an authentic and useful user experience, and on the other hand, it is available even on low-end smartphones.
Deutsche Telekom has unveiled another version of its AI smartphone powered by the Snapdragon® 8 Gen 3 Reference Design. In a high performance device, the AI processing is done on the device. This is why AI is especially fast, energy efficient and more adapted to each user.
At the fair, they presented prototypes that show a possible future and bring it to life, but it will take some time until they are available to users in stores.
